The pickaxe bounces off a block and says TOO HARD

That block needs a better tool. Its harvest level is above your pickaxe tier. Either craft the next pick at the Forge (it costs the ore that the block is made of, found deeper) or blast through with a bomb from the Powder House.

My taps never land a perfect strike

A strike only counts on a landing that follows at least a third of a second of free fall, and the pickaxe glows gold at that moment. Tapping continuously never registers: after a miss there is a short cooldown. Watch for the glow, then tap once.

Is anything paid?

No. Pickfall has no in-app purchases and no ads. The free bomb, the second chance and the doubled haul are ordinary buttons, each usable once per drop.

My village is gone

Saves live on the device only, so deleting the app or moving to a new phone without a device-to-device transfer clears them. There is no account to restore from; this is the trade for a game that needs no sign-up.
