When is Mother's Day? And Father's Day?

The rule behind each date
Mother's Day — US, Canada, Australia, Germany
The second Sunday of May, so always between 8 and 14 May.
Mothering Sunday — United Kingdom
The fourth Sunday of Lent, three weeks before Easter. It moves with Easter, anywhere from 1 March to 4 April.
Mother's Day — Russia
The last Sunday of November, set by presidential decree in 1998.
Father's Day — US, UK, Canada
The third Sunday of June, between 15 and 21 June.
Father's Day — Australia
The first Sunday of September.
Vatertag — Germany
Ascension Day, 39 days after Easter — always a Thursday, and a public holiday.
Father's Day — Russia
The third Sunday of October, set by presidential decree in 2021.
Why the UK's Mother's Day is in March
Mothering Sunday is not the American Mother's Day moved to spring: it comes from the church calendar, where it is the fourth Sunday of Lent. That ties it to Easter, so it falls on a different date every year — the Easter dates show where it is going next. Germany's Vatertag hangs on Easter the same way, from the other side.
